Christmas Movies We Are Loving Here at True 40

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

This movie is truly a classic, and if you haven’t seen it yet stop everything you’re doing and watch it now! You can frequently find this streaming on Freeform, but the easiest place to find it is Netflix. This movie is based off a children’s book written by Seuss. Here’s a short synopsis for to peep your interest: “Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville, wherein live the Whos, an almost-mutated sort of Munchkin-like people who all love Christmas. Just outside of their beloved town lives the Grinch, a nasty creature that hates Christmas and plans to steal it from the Whos, which he equally abhors. Little Cindy Lou Who decides to befriend the Grinch.” What a plot twist and what a movie! Perfect movie to watch with your kiddos or even your cousins if you don’t have kids just yet. Also, a great movie for date night! Grab the popcorn, some hot coco and turn this on!

White Christmas

Although this one is one of the older Christmas movies, it’s definitely still a classic you need to see! You can find this streaming on AMC constantly and also stream it anytime through Netflix! Here’s a short synopsis for you: “Singers Bob Wallace and Phil Davis join sister act Betty and Judy Haynes to perform a Christmas show in rural Vermont. There, they run into Gen. Waverly, the boys’ commander in World War II, who, they learn, is having financial difficulties; his quaint country inn is failing. So, what’s the foursome to do but plan a yuletide miracle: a fun-filled musical extravaganza that’s sure to put Waverly and his business in the black!” This movie really gives you that old time Christmas feel, and it is really cool to transition back into time and see how Christmas has evolved through the ages!

Miracle on 34th Street

When I think of Christmas, this is where my mind really goes. Although it is one of the older movies, it is one of those you have the urge to watch every year. This movie really takes you back in time to your childhood when believing in Santa was so exciting and almost expected. Here’s a short synopsis for you: “In this Christmas classic, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain’s main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity.” If you haven’t seen this one yet, add it to your list!

Holidate

If you’re looking for something light and easy to watch, this movie is for you! Released this year, Holidate is a Netflix original full of laughs and feel-good moments. Here’s a short synopsis for you: “Fed up with being single on holidays, two strangers agree to be each other’s platonic plus-ones all year long, only to catch real feelings along the way.” Now it might be a little bit cheesy, but who doesn’t love a cheesy Christmas movie?!? Highly recommend this if you’re looking for something light or even for a “Netflix and Chill” date.

Deck the Halls

If you’re looking for a movie that’ll keep you laughing, this one is for you! Here’s a short synopsis on it: “Steve, suburban dad and Christmas enthusiast, finds a wrinkle in his well-ordered existence with the arrival of his new neighbor Danny. Danny has big dreams and plans to illuminate his house with enough holiday lights to make it visible from space. Not to be outdone, Steve declares a war of one-upmanship with Danny that threatens to drag the Christmas spirit through the slush.” Definitely a good movie if you’re looking for a movie for movie night!

Home Alone

Highly recommend this movie to anyone who needs a movie with a lot of action! This movie is constantly movie, but it stays very entertaining the whole time! Here’s a short synopsis: When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home.” Now this movie might encourage your kiddos to start pulling out some tricks on you- so watch out for that! This movie right here is a good, heartwarming Christmas movie that never will go out of style!

A Shoe Addict’s Christmas

To all my shoe addicts- this one’s for you!! Here’s a short synopsis: “Noelle, a holiday hater, becomes locked in a department store on Christmas Eve. She meets a woman, who identifies herself as Noelle’s guardian angel and introduces Noelle to several ghosts of Christmases past, present and future.” As an audience, we get to transition through Noelle’s different ghosts of Christmases and with each ghost there’s a different pair of shoes to match. How much fun is this?!? This one ends in an ending you wouldn’t expect, which is why it has made the list of movies to watch! Plus, Candace Cameron stars in it and who doesn’t love her?!
