TRUE40: A 60 MINUTE CORE WORKOUT
Pilates is a great component to our True40 workouts but what are the benefits from incorporating it? Pilates can really make a difference in your health without taking a toll on your body. It is gentle but also challenging. This type of workout values quality over quantity. Learning how to breathe is essential is crucial during this portion of our workout and will ultimately reduce stress.
Let’s see what other benefits Pilates has to offer:
1. Develop a strong core and strong back
With consistent pilates movements you will develop a stronger center of the body. The core consist of the deepest muscles of our abdomen and the muscles closest to the spine. A strong core will improve your posture, alleviate lower back pain, and strengthen your breathing.
2. Gain lean muscles and flexibility
Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle flexibility and joint mobility. Pilates helps balance your body and prevent future injuries. Through pilates you will see results without the use of traditional weight bearing exercises. Pilates is also great on your joints too!
3. Boost your Brainpower
Joseph Pilates called his workout method the “thinking man’s exercise.” We agree! When Chinese researchers measured changes in women’s brain activity after 10 weeks of Pilates training, they found an increase in the brain’s alpha peak power, which is related to neural network activity, memory performance, and other cognitive functions. Researchers believe Pilates may even hold potential as a treatment option for people with brain-degenerative diseases and cognitive dysfunctions. How cool!
True40 classes are programmed for quick body-shaping results, improved postural alignment, increased core strength, and enhanced overall mobility. We love that Pilates is incorporated in every True40 workout and we push you to keep a core connection for the entire 60 minutes of class. After just a few classes, we promise you will start to see a difference in your posture, decreased back pain and over core strength!
